Karsten's first soccer game

Karsten had his first soccer game this past weekend. His team was so cute and they did really well. They play 3 on 3 with no goalie and when they kick the ball out of bounds, the coaches just throw another one right back into play, so the game keeps moving the whole time. They don't keep score and they rotate the kids in and out of the game equally. This is warm up and the pre-game pep talk with Coach Kevin.Karsten did a great job of running up and down the field with the ball. He is not very aggressive at all and mostly ran beside the ball and the other players. When the ball came to him, he would definitely kick it, but he wouldn't get in there and try to kick the ball away from the other team. Many of the other boys were the same way. It is funny that their whole lives, we have been teaching them to share, not be aggressive, not take others toys away, not push or shove, and now the object of the game is to try to kick the ball away from the other team and run past them to your own goal. I am sure that they will get the concept of the game more as the season continues. Karsten did score a goal, which he was very proud of.Of course Cooper, who has been practicing with the team, wanted to play as well. He tried to run out on the field during warm up time and was not happy to have to sit on the sidelines. Rob, my mom, and Zach ended up taking turns kicking a ball around on the sidelines with him throughout the game.
I think the boys' favorite part of the game was at the end when we made this line for them to run through. They all ran through about 3 or 4 times laughing and smiling. It was so cute. Go Tiger Sharks!!!

  1. He is so TALL! Wyatt and Mason loved the tunnel at the end of the soccer games too, but most of all they looked forward to the snack.
