So who or what is Moni? Moni is Karsten's imaginary friend, actually imaginary daughter to be more specific. Karsten has had this imaginary daughter for some time now. I am not even sure when she first appeared, but it has been probably a year or so. I am also not sure if that is how you spell it because it is not pronounced with a long "o" like in Mona, or a short "o" as in mop, it is somewhere in between. Karsten came up with this completely on his own and we think it is hilarious.
He doesn't talk about her all the time, but occasionally I will hear him talking to her on the phone. Conversations sometimes are about her not letting him play volleyball or go to a birthday party (I wonder where he gets those topics from) and they can get pretty loud. Sometimes the phone converstaions are sweet and gentle and are inviting her to come eat dinner at Polly and Pa Pa's house.
It is really funny that he doesn't really understand the whole age thing and seems to forget their whole father/daughter relationship. Her age ranges from 3 or 4 years old to 8 years old, which Peyton loves to point out to him when he says that she is older than he is. He does not ever talk about her mother, but sometimes he talks about her having a father, which is not him. I wonder what Freud would think of that.
Anyway, we think it is cute and love to ask him questions about her. He seems to forget about her sometimes and we won't hear anything about her for a while. Then, he will start up again with these loud, yelling phone conversations with her. We'll just have to see how long Moni is around.
That's funny!!! Maybe he was hoping Cooper would have been a girl. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhen Devon was three she had imaginary "friends." They were like her entourage. They mostly joined her in the car, so when she got out, we had to wait for all of them to get out too. It was awesome. They went away a few months after Matthew arrived.
That is so cute and hilarious. Karsten has a very good imagination.
