Peyton has been begging us to take her somewhere to see snow for the past year, so we asked my parents if they would ask their friends, the Buntons, if we could use their cabin in Ruidoso over Christmas break. Peyton was so excited and we planned the whole trip out. We would leave on December 18th after Peyton got out of school and drive overnight to El Paso and then spend the 19th with Rob's mom. That evening we would drive into Ruidoso and stay until the 23rd and then drive home.
Well, the morning of the 18th, Cooper started with diarrhea. By the afternoon, he had thrown up twice. With some some encouragement from my parents, we decided to go ahead and set out on our adventure. We left at 10pm with plans to get into El Paso around 6am.
Cooper threw up the first time before we got out of the neighborhood. The threw up the second time by the time we were in Dripping Springs. He threw up the 3rd time about 30 minutes later. At that point, we pulled over and had to make a decision- keep going or turn back. We kept going and he finally settled down and slept the rest of the way. Peyton and Karsten did great. By the time we got there, Cooper was looking much better. We had a good day with Rob's mom in El Paso.
Ruidoso was fun, no snow, but fun. We did find a tubing place that made their own snow and did that one day. We went to Ski Apache on Peyton's birthday and played in the snow at their basin and watched the skiiers come down. Peyton loved it, Karsten did not. He was too cold after about 10 minutes, so we sat in the lodge the rest of the time. Cooper spent most of the time in the cabin with my mom taking naps and just hanging out.
The trip home was pretty uneventful, which was great!. We were all glad to get home in our own beds. Despite some little hiccups, we really did enjoy our trip. You may be wondering why there are not any pictures attached to this entry and that is because we brought our camera, but forgot to take it anywhere we went. So, we have no pictures at all!
