This is what happens when a 5 year old is running up the stairs and trips and hits his mouth on a step. Crying, bleeding, a big cut on the inside of his lip, and lots of really bad looking bruising. Surprisingly, there was not a whole lot of swelling and since he did this on Sunday, the day before school started, I was just thankful that he didn't show up for the first stay of school with a fat lip. Not the first impression you want your son's kindergarten teacher to have. He recovered really well though and kept an ice pack on it for about 45 minutes, exchanging it for new colder ones throughout, and then we went for snow cones afterwards. But man, it did look painful!
