The circus

Since we only took two short weekend trips to see each of our brothers this summer, we decided to splurge on an end-of-the-summer trip to the circus with the kids.  I say splurge because it cost us $146 for the family to get in.  We had promised each kiddo a treat at the circus, but when we got there and saw that a snow cone in a collectable cup cost $12 and cotton candy in a stupid top hat cost $15, we had to back out of our promise.  Mostly just on principle.  It would have cost us about $40 to just get each kid a sweet treat and we knew sharing probably wouldn't work out.  Instead we got the basic popcorn, but then had to listen to them all complain the entire time about wanting a snow cone/cotton candy.  It did not help that EVERYONE around us bought all that stuff for their kids plus all the other souvenir twirly lights, head bands, plastic swords, etc. But, besides the complaining, the circus was amazing.  We had great seats and the kids really enjoyed the show.

  1. We enjoyed the circus last year but totally agree on that crazy pricing. We said no way, but Grammy was with us and bought them everything they wanted including the sweets and a toy. We later sold the toys in a garage sale for $1. Good Grief!
