Baby Deer

We saw this baby deer in our front yard a couple days ago. It couldn't be more than a couple weeks old. Our neighbor said that the moms drop their babies in a safe spot during the day and go out and eat and get food and come back and get the babies in the evenings and move them. Well, this little one was left in our front yard, right near the street. The school bus drove right by it, our cars were parked right next to it, people were walking their dogs 10 feet away from it. The poor little thing was just laying there with it's ears perked up and it's big brown eyes looking around. We had our carpets cleaned that day and their huge van pulled up right next to it and they turned on all their equipment and that little thing was so scared. We were in the front yard while they were cleaning the carpets and the boys were watching the little deer and it just had enough and got up and ran off behind our house. The boys were so worried that its mother wouldn't find it. Luckily, this morning (2 days later), that mom dropped the baby again in the same spot so the kids were relieved that the mom had found it. It was gone by mid-morning, so hopefully she will find a better spot for it from now on. It was really cute to see such a new little deer so closeup.
