Our Lake Outting

Rob is now working back at Flieller, Kruger, Skelton, and Plyer and they had a family lake outting at Lake McQueeney. One of the partners has a family lakehouse there and they take the whole office and their families out there for boating, jet skis, and BBQ every summer.

We drove up after Peyton's swim meet and joined up with them. The kids were super excited. None of them have ever even been on a boat (okay they did the Austin Duck Tour boat and the Bat Tour boat), but not a real ski boat.

The minute we get there, Cooper is dying to get in the water. He is pushing his way to the dock and wants to get right in. We go in the house and put on our bathing suits and head back to the dock. About that time, Rob's friend pulls up on his jet ski and since Cooper is bound and determined to get wet, we ask him to take Cooper out on the jet ski. At the time it didn't seem like a big deal, but looking back, we put our less-than-2 year old on a jet ski in a lake with a guy who doesn't even have kids. Cooper had a great time though and loved getting splashed in the face. They went really slow and he actually seemed to enjoy it when they went a little faster.

We went on the ski boat next. We were pulling some tubers so we were going kind of fast and going from side to side and poor Karsten got really scared. He was crying and grabbing onto Rob's leg. Peyton was fine and Cooper was smiling ear to ear. I, like Karsten, wasn't totally comfortable and was getting a little bit of motion sickness, so I actually sympatized a lot with him.

We got back to the dock, ate lunch and then jumped off the dock and swam for a while. Later we rode the boat again, but this time without any skiers or tubers and just did a leisure trip around the lake. Karsten had a great time and sat by himself in the passenger's seat next to the driver. Overall, we had a great day and the kids had a lot of fun. We didn't take one picture because, honestly, it was really hard to keep our eyes on all the kids. They kept wanting to go on the dock and run around and I was so afraid one of them was going to fall in. We decided that if we got a lakehouse, we'd have to put a rail all the way around the water front to keep the kids safe!

  1. Mason and Wyatt LOVE going on our friend's boats. I mentioned to Shane that it would be fun to get a jet ski and now he won't leave me along about it...always looking for a good used one. We'll see.
