Louisa and BJ, Paw Paw and Carol, and Polly and PaPa were all there. Polly thought it would be a good idea to give the boys these huge foam swords and hammers. I avoid buying these kinds of things because they just start hitting each other like crazy and someone gets hurt or knocks things over and Cooper is just crazy with it and can't seem to take it down a notch. Anyway, I am the boring mom and everyone else has to indulge them with the typical boy toys that I never buy. BJ got in on fighting as well, which was hilarious. The boys love rough-housing with him and my emotionally-reserved Peyton will literally jump into his arms to give him a big hug. Poor Aunt Louisa plays second fiddle to Uncle BJ.

Another Karsten birthday
For those keeping track, this is the third 5th birthday party for Karsten. It usually works out this way in our family. We do something small with just us on the actual birthday. We do a party with kid-friends one day and we do a birthday with extended family another day. The kids love having their birthday spread out over a week or so. Rob's birthday is two weeks after Karsten's so this was actually a family birthday for the two of them.

Louisa and BJ got Karsten more Legos, which he loved and has been playing non-stop since his birthday. Paw Paw and Carol are always sweet and got a little gift for all the kids.

Seems there's no way to avoid the foam swords. We have them too and I DID NOT buy them! :)
